Rhode Island is rich in history, coastline, and cuisine, but it’s not exactly a top hiking destination. That being said, there are plenty of trails in the Ocean State that are definitely worth checking out. Some might even have you believing you’ve left New England entirely.

But for a relatively easy experience with remarkable sweeping views, we recommend heading to Block Island and finding the Clay Head Trail. The views are out of this world.

The Clay Head Nature Trail is one of the most popular on the island, but it still tends to remain relatively uncrowded.

The hike is about 3.5 miles long out-and-back, and like most of Rhody’s trails, it stays pretty flat.

The dirt path takes you through the trees, down a winding path, and eventually, straight to the ocean.
