Do you believe in ghosts? You just might after a nights’ stay in one of Oklahoma City’s premier luxury hotels that many believe is haunted. The Skirvin Hilton is located in downtown OKC and when the Skirvin opened in 1911 it was known as one of the nicest hotels in the southwest. The Skirvin has also been tied to controversy due to the many rumors that it is haunted by the ghost of a woman who died there nearly 100 years ago.
The Skirvin Hilton is one of the most famous and now infamous hotels in the Sooner State. A maid named Effie and her baby are rumored to have fallen to their deaths from the tenth floor.

It was a window just like this one where the alleged incident happened. According to rumor, Effie was locked up and became so emotionally distraught that she threw herself and the newborn baby out the window to their deaths.

Effie supposedly had an affair with the owner Mr. Skirvin and was then locked away on the tenth floor to hide the scandal.

Effie has been known to roam the halls all throughout the hotel and cause restless nights. Even some pro athletes have been frightened enough to share rooms with others out of fear of the ghosts.
