In fact, the first commercial mention of the pool is found in the 1827 Williamstown Advocate. It was an advertisement for the healing powers of the spring. However, records show that the Native peoples of the region had long used the pool for its purported healing and curative properties. The mineral water of the pool was occasionally bottled up and sold, and ailing individuals were known to bathe in its waters in the hopes of curing their illness.

Sand Springs Recreation Area Today, the pool is a place of total relaxation. As a family-friendly recreation area, it’s the perfect place to unwind or get into shape. The soothing mineral waters haven’t lost any of their appeal and the temperature in the pool hovers around 72 degrees.
