If you need to get out of the house and into the forest this summer, check out the Indian Cave Trail in Shubert, Nebraska. This stunning trail takes you through thousands of acres of beauty situated right by the Missouri River. Bring the whole family to enjoy some of Nebraska’s prettiest scenery!
There are 3,052 acres of gorgeous wilderness in Nebraska named the Indian Cave State Park.
Faa Thipsutha / AllTrails This park is named after a sandstone cave located within it. The area boasts 22 miles of hiking and biking trails that you will love to explore.
Perhaps the most popular trail in the area is the Indian Cave Trail.
Perry Steines / AllTrails This out and back trail winds its way through the forest, with peekaboo views of the mighty Missouri River below.
There’s a wooden boardwalk that you travel that follows the entire length of the cave wall.

Even though there are many steps on the boardwalk to climb, the total elevation gain is only 393 feet.

You can also spot tons of local wildlife from along the trail.
