With a history that dates back to the 1850s, it’s only expected that this place - one of the oldest hotels in Savannah, has seen some things throughout the years.

For starters, The Marshall House was used back in the mid-1800s as a hospital during the Yellow Fever Epidemics. Additionally, in the final months of the Civil War, the hotel was also used as a Union Hospital.

However, being a hospital during these two momentous pieces of history does have some drawbacks, which is what lends itself to these haunted tales.

Rumors have floated around of guests seeing apparitions roaming the hallways, children running the halls late at night, and even faucets and lights coming on and off by themselves.

Both hotel staff and guests have reported seeing a young man holding a severed arm, looking for someone to reattach it, or men in Civil War clothes wandering the hallways. At first, guests thought the hotel hired actors to play the part but were surprised that no such actors existed, and what they were seeing was real.
