You could say that Lahout’s Summit Shop in Littleton got its start as a horse and wagon operation in the 1920s after Herbert and Ann Lahout emigrated from Lebanon.

When Herbert died suddenly in the 1930s, son Joe was left to run the business. During this time Joe picked up a love of skiing, practicing and competing in a variety of competitions

Later, after serving in World War II, he made it his mission to affordably outfit the kids in the North Country to allow skiing to be a part of their lives.

The store took off and was open 12 months a year offering anything outdoors-related you can think of.

With almost 100 years of service, Lahout’s Summit Shop knows what they’re doing. And they’ve attracted quite a following. They’ve been featured in national news and magazines, which has only added to their popularity.

Today the store has eight different locations across Littleton and Lincon, which means they’re never far from the White Mountains.
