Colorado is home to some of the best 14ers in the country, but not all of us are ready to climb to the peak of a mountain. That being said, where is the best place for novices to go? If you are like me and prefer something short, sweet, and satisfying, you will want to take the Royal Gorge Overlook Loop in Colorado:
Located near - you guessed it! - the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, the Royal Gorge Overlook Trail is a 1.5-mile loop trail that offers some of the best views in the Centennial State!
AllTrails/Christopher Tidwell
Billed as being suitable for all skill levels, the Royal Gorge Overlook Trail features everything from dramatic canyons to colorful wildflowers, mature trees, and views as far as the eye can see.
AllTrails/Perry Steines
Can you see why they call it the Royal Gorge Overlook Trail?
AllTrails/Aaron Stewart
Unlike other trails in the area, the Overlook Trail only gains 100 feet in elevation, making it even more accessible for every skill level.
AllTrails/Lisa Boness
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled (and your camera handy) on your hike, as you may even spot some native wildlife!
AllTrails/Paul Andrews
Please note: the Royal Gorge Overlook Trail is best used between March and November.
AllTrails/Abigail Kirschenmann
