The Big Easy is full of botanical gardens, nature paths, tranquil lagoons, and public parks that are ideal for those moments when you need a little escape. - City Park
Yuriy Mysak/Google City Park seems like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised at how many people overlook this 1,300-acre oasis right in the heart of the Crescent City. You could easily spend an entire day exploring the nature trails, bike trails, and botanical gardens, and that doesn’t even begin to describe all the attractions at City Park!
- Audubon Park
Piotrek Jakimiak/Google Audubon Park is a popular spot for anyone in the Uptown area looking to spend some time outdoors. The 350-acre park is peppered with tons of ancient oaks that will shade your way along the trails and tons of green space to sprawl out on.
- Bayou Segnette State Park
Mike D./Google You’ll find this state park over in Westwego, and it’s a great destination the whole family will enjoy. Kayak along the bayou, do a little fishing, and maybe rent one of their floating cabins to make a weekend out of it.
- Fontainebleau State Park
Full Moon/Google Just a short trip across the bridge and you’ll land at this beautiful 2,800-acre state park. Nestled along the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, you’ll love exploring the nature trails, marveling at the views from the pier, and sinking your toes into the white sandy beach.
- Northlake Nature Center
Justin Redman/Google The Northlake Nature Center is just a little further up the road from Fontainebleau State Park, so you could do both in one day before driving back over the Causeway. The nature trails here will take you on an emerald adventure through the swamps and bayous, and it’s a great spot for wildlife viewing.
