A small city like Tuscola may not be the first place you’d think of when you want to visit an art gallery, but maybe it should. Along the main street in what was once a bank sits a large gallery that displays the creative works of approximately 60 independent local artists. Here at The Vault Art Gallery, you will find impressive art pieces that, unlike at an art museum, you can purchase and display at home.

The First National Bank and Trust Company in Tuscola was established in 1866 and occupied the building at 100 N. Main Street until 1982. This former historic bank building is now home to The Vault Art Gallery.

The namesake of the gallery comes from the colossal bank vault that sits behind the counter. You will want to take a peek at it when you visit.

With 12,000 square feet of space, the building has two floors with a spacious gallery and classrooms where art and music classes are held. It is also used as a venue for various art and music events held throughout the year.

This gallery showcases the works of local Illinois artists with the belief that art should be accessible to all. The prices here are affordable so that just about anyone who walks through the doors is able to purchase a piece to take home.

The Central Illinois artists that are part of the Vault community either rent space in the gallery or sell their pieces on consignment.

Paintings, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics, photography, art glass, and metal and wood art are just some of the creative pieces you can expect to see and have the opportunity to purchase. But whether or not you buy a piece of art to take home, you will be amazed at the works created by so many talented artists!
