The website FleetLogging recently conducted a study in which they analyzed rush hours across the 141 most congested cities in the world. They did this by calculating how far from each city center you could drive in one hour, during both on- and off-peak hours.

With these two calculations, FleetLogging could conclude which cities have particularly bad rush hour traffic. And yes, the U.S. city with the biggest discrepancy in distance traveled during on- and off-peak hours was our very own Boise, Idaho.

According to the results, you can travel a whopping 14.4 miles further in one hour by waiting for off-peak periods in Boise. In comparison, Philadelphia came in second with a discrepancy of 13.4 miles, and Albuquerque came in third with a discrepancy of 13 miles.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Boise even made an appearance near the top of the worldwide charts! Boise came in fifth worldwide. Three French cities took the top of the list, with Marseille in first (22.8 miles), Lyon in second (21.6 miles), and Paris in third (17.5 miles.)

We’re not going to lie, we’re a bit surprised by these findings! Although, a few contributing factors could be the city’s marked rise in population during the past few years and the lack of convenient public transportation.
