The cozy diner not only has a beautiful, classically vintage look, but was originally a 19th-century barn that once belonged to the Overlock estate.

The estate was originally an inn built in the early 1800s, known as Peter Thompson Tavern. It was passed down as a residence through the early 1900s, when noted surgeon Dr. S.B. Overlock resided and cared for the sick until 1935.

The barn was renovated to accommodate a few other local retail businesses until it was opened as The Vanilla Bean Café. At that time, the café only had enough seating for 16 guests.

Since that time, the café has expanded to allow more seating for guests who want to enjoy the historical ambiance of indoor dining, as well as the spacious outdoor patio dining.
