Living in a state that’s considerably far from the ocean doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy sandy beaches and cool blue water. However, it does limit our chances to go hunting for sea glass or beach glass, whichever you prefer to call it. When you visit a Lake Erie beach in Pennsylvania, you just might want to carve out some time to sift through the sand to see what sea glass you can collect to take home.

Presque Isle State Park in Erie, a popular summertime destination for Pennsylvanians and other visitors, is all about the beaches - 11 of them, in fact.

We might not sit right on the ocean’s edge, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the sounds of the waves crashing against the sand and enjoy other fun beach activities in Erie.

Bring a bag and your sense of adventure along so you can search through the sand for sea glass. Some consider the Presque Isle Beaches a gold mine for sea glass while others say it’s like digging for a hidden treasure.

Either way, you never know what you’ll find. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) even holds workshops from time to time where you can make crafts with sea glass.
