This Beautiful Boardwalk Trail In Maine Is The Most Unique Hike Around

Each day in Vacationland is another opportunity for some of the best natural surroundings in New England. But you don’t need to strap on your hiking boots to experience what this incredible state has to offer. This boardwalk trail in Maine – Orono, to be exact – will have you immersed in nature without the uphill slog.

The Orono Bog Boardwalk trail is a 1-mile boardwalk loop beginning at the Bangor City Forest.

Once you’ve been on the trail for about 800 feet, you’ll officially cross into Orono where the trail is owned by the University of Maine.

The unique trail is a great way to get to know more about Maine’s bogs.

It’s completely wheelchair accessible, and also makes for a great place to take children in strollers.

In 1974, the National Park Service designated the Orono Bog as a National Natural Landmark.

It’s a beautiful place to visit on both sunny days and those quintessential foggy Maine days.
