Smithsonian Magazine recently named the best 15 small towns to visit in 2021. New Yorkers were not at all surprised to see the Empire State represented in the list. It’s endlessly frustrating to us in the Empire State that we are best-known for the Big Apple. There are so many wonderful small towns in New York that are worthy of praise. We were excited to see Goshen recognized: it’s a charming little town with a ton of history. If you’re looking for a day trip in New York, it doesn’t get much better than Goshen!
We’ll get the big attraction out of the way first! Goshen was recently in the news for the opening of the multi-million dollar Legoland New York . The park is geared towards children ages 2 to 12.

Goshen’s main street area is adorable! It has such a quintessential small town feel.

Harness racing is popular in Goshen. The town is home to Historic Track. Opened in 1838, it is the oldest continuously operating horse racing track in North America. The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame is located in Goshen.

Like many small towns in New York, Goshen is home to a number of excellent restaurants. We recommend picking up a luxurious coffee (or lemonade!) from Cafe Yen.
