If you enjoy haunted tales or stories of a paranormal nature, then Kentucky is quite an interesting place to visit. Our state offers many fascinating destinations for those who believe (or at least like hearing about) these creepy stories, and one of them can be found in the small town of Somerset. The International Paranormal Museum and Research Center is located in the basement of the Carnegie Community Arts Center, and this paranormal museum in Kentucky celebrates all things sensationally spooky.
Hiding in the small town of Somerset is a rather unlikely museum that showcases “all things that go bump in the night,” as the museum phrases it. This includes ghosts, psychics, Bigfoot, aliens, and anything else that may give you chills.

This small museum is appropriately located in the basement of a historic building that happens to have a few haunted tales of its own. The Carnegie Arts Center in Somerset is a beautiful building, but there’s definitely an eerie atmosphere at the museum hiding in its basement.

The museum may be small, but it is packed with paraphernalia from all sorts of paranormal worlds. The story of Bigfoot is featured in a few displays, including casts made of footprints, some of which were even found in the woods of Kentucky.

Other things to explore in the museum include dolls that are said to be cursed and other items that have been through horrific experiences. One toy on display was found in the hands of a child that died in a fire, and some report hearing the sound of someone crying around it.

The museum’s owner says that the one item that even he doesn’t want to touch: this 100-year-old Voodoo doll. You may not be able to touch it - nor would you probably want to - but you can see it on display.

You’ll also want to check out this mannequin during your visit, as it is claimed to have mysteriously moved throughout the store where it was once on display, though no employee or customer touched it. You also have the opportunity to walk around the museum with a paranormal detection device to see you capture any spirit activity of your own.
