Waterparks In Mississippi April 29, 2021 Daniella DiRienzo Are there any other must-visit waterparks in Mississippi? There are lots of waterparks in Mississippi, and one that you don’t want to miss is D’Lo Waterpark. Located in the small town of Mendenhall, about 40 minutes from Jackson, it’s easily one of Mississippi’s best-kept secrets. Much more relaxing than a traditional waterpark, the main highlight of D’Lo Waterpark is an old-fashioned swimming hole. And since it’s rather secluded, crowds aren’t the norm, making it seem even more like a secret paradise. Another fun option for water-related fun can be found at Meridian East/Toomsuba KOA. The campground boasts all the typical amenities as well as one not-so-typical amenity – a 550-foot water slide that winds through a forest of trees. After lots of twists and turns, the slide comes to an end in a small pool. And since the slide’s access point is near the campground’s pool, you can enjoy a dip before, after, or in between your rides on the slide. What other things are there to do in summer in Mississippi? Waterparks in Mississippi aren’t the only option for summertime fun. There are plenty of other ways to enjoy the season, including canoeing, kayaking, and tubing. There are several outfitters in Mississippi that make it easy to get out on the water – and Seminary Canoe Rental is one of them. A great choice, Seminary Canoe Rental offers canoe and kayak trips down Okatoma Creek, which has been dubbed the top-rated float in the state (and 10th in the nation). In addition to easy access to the creek, the outfitter offers cabin rentals, too, which means you can turn your day of fun into an overnight adventure. For a relaxing tubing adventure, Canoe and Trail Outpost in Tylertown has got you covered. Open seasonally, May through December, the outfitter is located on the scenic Bogue Chitto, which is known for its cool, refreshing, slow-moving waters. What are some fun kid-friendly activities in Mississippi? There are lots of kid-friendly activities and attractions in Mississippi. One spot that’s perfect for families with younger children is the splash pad at Paul B. Johnson State Park in Hattiesburg. At 5,000 square feet, it’s one of the biggest splash pads in the state. And its size is put to good use. Sure to keep kids entertained, the gigantic splash pad features 37 water sprays and jets, including a mushroom water umbrella. There’s also a frog-shaped water slide, standing spray loops, and lots of hands-on features, like water cannons. Other perks include covered picnic tables and a lakeside beach. Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport is another amazing kid-friendly attraction. Located in a renovated elementary school, the expansive children’s museum boasts 15,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space as well as 7-1/2 acres of outdoor play space, a theater, Viking kitchen, and more.
