There are a few places in Maine that we return to again and again. The best of these spots are the ones we visited as kids and that still offer fun activities at a reasonable price. Wolfe’s Neck Center is one of our favorites. Throughout the year, they offer fun events and activities meant to enrich the lives of Mainers and those from away. This year, we found another feature we love about this place and it will certainly keep us coming back

One of the tastiest ways to appreciate the fresh foods that are grown in Maine is by visiting the Wolfe’s Neck Farms Café in Freeport. You’ll find it right next to the campground office.

The café creates meals and treats using fresh ingredients directly from the pastures and fields that surround it. That means vegetables and fruit come from the farm’s organic, non-GMO plot. And meat comes from their own cows, sheep, chicken and pigs.

Anything they can’t find just steps away from the kitchen comes from other freshly grown local ingredients as close to the farm as possible.

The menu changes depending on what’s available. We love their specials, too.

Their Independence Day lobster rolls were a hit and offered the perfect Maine way to enjoy the holiday.

They’ve also been known to host one of the best pizzas around! Wood-Fired Pizza Nights include classic cheese or pepperoni.

We especially love their Farm Pie, which features seasonal ingredients grown and raised right here at Wolfe’s Neck Center.

They remain open through October, which is a great chance to try their cider donuts, pumpkin whoopie pies, and muffins.

When you enjoy a meal or snack here you’re also supporting the center’s education programs as well as helping to ensure that their local farmers can continue producing the foods we love.
