There is one place in the Land of Enchantment that crams a whole lot of history into one area — Pecos National Historical Park. While designed to preserve the history of the incredible Pecos Valley, this national historical park is a must-visit destination. In fact, there is one trail — the Ancestral Sites Trail — that will make you feel like you are stepping into history. This trail will take you to some of the most fascinating ruins in New Mexico.

Not only will you see the ruins of the pueblo, but you will also come across several kivas as well. Kivas are underground ceremonial rooms and if you are physically able, you may even climb into one.

Next to the Pecos Pueblo are the ruins of the 1717 Spanish Mission Church. You can walk around this church and explore or just sit back and imagine what it might have been like to live here centuries ago.
