In addition to being the nation’s third tallest dam, Dworshak Dam is the tallest straight-axis concrete dam in the Western Hemisphere. With a height of 717-feet, the sight of this magnificent dam is enough to take your breath away.

If you’ve never seen the dam for yourself, consider it high time to pay a visit. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, you can actually receive a guided tour of the dam. Tours are offered daily during the summer, and by arrangement during the rest of the year.

During the tour, you’ll get an up-close look at the 1603 galley, the north tower, and the top of the dam. Tours are offered twice per day: one at 10:00 a.m. and the other at 1:00 p.m. Tours are first come, first served.

The Dworshak Dam Visitor Center boasts a wealth of information regarding the history and culture of the area. From native wildlife found in the area to the workers that brought this dam to life, you’re bound to learn something new while exploring all of the exhibits.

After your tour, you can take a stroll along the top of the dam for an unbelievable view of the reservoir and surrounding scenery. It’s like being on top of the world!
