If you grew up in Rhode Island, you’ve probably eaten your share of pizza strips. The thick dough slathered with fresh tomato sauce and baked in large trays is served in long, thin strips, and we can’t seem to get enough of it. Pizza strips are one of Rhody’s most iconic food. But in Johnston, one bakery has taken it one step further. Allow us to introduce you to pizza chips.
The Original Italian Bakery is located on Atwood Avenue in Johnston, where it has been a beloved local favorite for years.
Cyril Moore / Google Master Baker Don DePetrillo has been baking since 1967, where he owned a bakery on the corner of Veazie Street and Branch Avenue in Providence. Don founded The Original Italian Bakery in 2007, and the rest is history.
Don brought all his carefully curated recipes with him to the bakery, and everything he baked is phenomenal.
