Even if the golden fall sun is a little too warm, you’ll largely be shaded by the towering trees that line parts of the path. It can get crowded at times, so be prepared for that.

A trek along the crushed limestone trail is beautiful in any season, but you’ll be in for a real treat if you visit when the fall foliage is at its richest. (Peak or near peak time is your best bet for a hike.)

If you have the time, go at your own pace. Benches dot the park, so you can take a breather or just sit back and admire the scenery.

You’ll likely run into some of the residents of the park, too - ducks, geese, turtles, and frogs. You might even see a deer or two.

Cap off your visit with a picnic. If you didn’t bring food, head over to the Boathouse, where you can buy food and drinks. (The Boathouse is open all year.)
