You’ve probably heard of Barton Springs Pool in Austin, but did you know there’s another spring-fed oasis right nearby? Deep Eddy Pool is the oldest swimming pool in Texas, and it’s the perfect place to make a splash this summer.

Originally, the pool was nothing more than a spring-fed swimming hole in the Colorado River.
deepeddy.org In 1915, it became the centerpiece of a resort, the Deep Eddy Bathing Beach, which featured cabins, a zip line, slide, Ferris wheel, and even a diving board for horses!
1935 is when the City of Austin purchased the property for $10,000.

Today, the pool is popular among adults and children, divided equally into a lap section and shallow wading area.

Hours for the wading pool are 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. from March 14 through October 31, while the lap area is open during daylight hours year-round.

You can even enjoy the onsite bathhouse, which was part of the resort before closing to the public for many years.
