The seaside town of Asbury Park, New Jersey, nestled on the Jersey Shore, is most known for its legendary music scene, including local native Bruce Springsteen. Along the town’s amusement-filled boardwalk, you’ll also find one of the state’s best retro arcades.

The Silverball Museum, owned by pinball enthusiast Rob Ilvento, is located right off the boardwalk and features over 200 pinball machines and arcade games in its bright arcade room. Ilvento reportedly owns more than 600 machines and rotates them periodically.

The main focus in the museum is pinball. Above each arcade machine is a placard that says a little bit about the history of the game, the artistry of the machine, and some strategies with the gameplay. But don’t worry! You also get to play them.

Some of the machines date back to the 1950s and 1960s.

Of course, the arcade has some of the best arcade games from the 1980’s available as well, including Pong, Galaga, Donkey Kong, and Tetris.

If you’re not into arcade games, you’ll also find air hockey, jumbo bowler, and Skee-ball.

All that game playing make you hungry? The Silverball Café in the museum has all the best junk food to keep the carefree day rolling: thin-crust pizza, nachos, mozzarella sticks, funnel cakes, ice cream and more.

There have even been some celebrity sightings at the arcade, including Danny DeVito. Who knows? You might run into “The Boss” himself.

There’s no need to bring quarters to this arcade. $10 gets you 30 minutes of unlimited play, and $15 gets you one hour. You can also do a half-day pass for $17.50, or an all-day pass for $20. The operating hours are 10 a.m.-12 a.m. daily. Visit the arcade’s website or Facebook page to learn more.
