Set in the countryside of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Johansen Farms has been around since 1925. Over the years it has grown from a roadside vegetable stand into a destination featuring a greenhouse, garden center, children’s zoo, rides, and so much more.

If you’re looking for things to do this fall in Illinois, Johansen Farms offers plenty of family-friendly activities at its Children’s Zoo, Pumpkin Patch, and Fall Festival. While there is an admission fee to pay for the zoo, a visit to the pumpkin patch is free!

In the open market area, you’ll find what looks like a sea of 25,000 orange pumpkins. Your jaw will probably drop when you see them all!

With all the different shapes and sizes, you’re sure to find the perfect pumpkin to take home. Whether it’s pumpkins for pies, decorations, or jack o’ lanterns, this farm has it all.

While it’s an absolute must to visit the pumpkin patch, you may as well stay for the zoo and rides which cover an area of four acres. There are plenty of activities to enjoy like miniature golf, a sports zone, a giant inflatable obstacle course, a two-story airslide as well as a smaller slide, a toddler area, and a train. In addition to all that fun, there’s also a corn maze!

At the Petting Zoo, kids will be delighted to see hundreds of adorable farm animals from chickens and pigs to llamas, miniature ponies, goats, and more.

While you’re here, you may as well also visit the Piehouse & Bakery where you can grab a whole pie (or just a slice) or some apple cider donuts to take home. Delicious!
