Wyoming is full of natural wonders, but when most people head here to explore, they end up in the Rocky Mountains, Yellowstone, or out in the Badlands. Anyone who has spent a good amount of time in Wyoming knows that sometimes, the most remarkable spots are hidden off the beaten path, and the Flaming Gorge is one of those underrated gems that’s sure to take your breath away.
The Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area straddles the Wyoming-Utah Border and preserves an otherworldly landscape that surrounds the mighty Green River.

Much of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir lies in Wyoming, though the Canyon and Recreation Area sprawls across the border into Utah as well. You can access the preserve from either state.
