Everyone loves chocolate, especially in the winter. When you think of handmade, delicious chocolate, you must think of Alaska Wild Berry Products! This amazing and absolutely incredible treat store in Anchorage boasts the world’s largest chocolate waterfall in Alaska!
Alaska Wild Berry Products have been making delicious treats for over 60 years!
srblue / TripAdvisor Established in 1946, 13 years before Alaska even became a state, Alaska Wild Berry Products started creating amazing wild berry jams and jellies. They have since expanded to many different tasty sweets, including chocolate, fudge, and other candies as well!
One of the most famous attractions in their Anchorage store is the world’s largest chocolate waterfall!
Alaska Wild Berry Products / Facebook The chocolate waterfall is stunning, with over 3000 pounds of chocolate flowing through the falls! The waterfall was created in 1994, when the store was built.
The chocolate gushes out of the head, before cascading 20 feet down through specially made copper kettles, and swirling in the chocolate pool below.
Kristin Andrus / Flickr The copper kettles are authentic candy kettles! The kettles, and the entire falls, were made special by Homer artist Mike Sirl.
The waterfalls incorporated a specially designed warming and mixing system to keep the chocolate evenly heated.
Alaska Wild Berry Products / Facebook The chocolate itself is donated by Peter’s Chocolate Division of Nestle Foods and Guittard Chocolate Company. And if you are absolutely enchanted by the smell, you must practice self discipline! The falls are for viewing, not tasting, unfortunately.
Chocolate waterfalls aren’t the only thing Alaska Wild Berry Products does well!
Carrie0693 / TripAdvisor Their fudge is out of this world! With so many unique flavors, it will be hard to narrow it down to just one! With original flavors bearing names like “Northern Lights,” it’s hard to get more Alaskan than that!
They also craft specialty products, like these Mt. St. Augustine treats, or wild berry spiced truffles!
Alaska Wild Berry Products / Facebook Our favorites are a toss up between the homemade peanut butter cups, or the grizzly bear claws! And if you’re not a fan of chocolate, no worries! They also hand craft other candy treats like jelly beans, coconut creams, or even marshmallow bunnies for Easter!
You can browse through their cases to pick a unique selection for you and your loved ones, or look through their pre-packaged selections!
Alaska Wild Berry Products / Facebook You can also buy great gifts for the whole family while you’re satisfying your sweet tooth. They also carry ulu knives, Alaska salmon, meats and cheeses, and of course- jams and jellies!
This store is absolutely chock full of amazing and delicious treats for everyone in the family. It’s the ultimate chocolate shop in Alaska and you have to visit!
