Nothing beats spending the day on the NorCal coast, and lucky for us, there are plenty of ways to do so. When you’re in the area, the 18-mile Monterey Bay Coastal Trail is a must. Winding right alongside the coast, you’ll be treated to unlimited views of the bright blue ocean plus the gorgeous scenery of the Monterey Peninsula. The beauty just seems to go on and on! Hugging the Monterey waterfront for 18 miles, this popular paved path stretches from Castroville to Pacific Grove. Along the way, visitors are treated outstanding views of the ocean along with access to some of the area’s top attractions.

The trail follows the same route at the old Southern Pacific Railway. It was constructed in 1986 when the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District saw that the abandoned railway would make for an amazing waterfront trail…and they were right!
