Most people travel to Walla Walla with nothing but good food and great wine on their minds. After all, the Walla Walla Valley has become home to one of the top wine regions in the county. It was even listed as one of the best places in the world to visit in 2018.

But the truth is, this little city has a unique character that’s entirely separate from the vino. In fact, the oldest indie record store in the state is located downtown, and it’s better than ever.

You’ll find Hot Poop – yes, that is really its name – on East Main Street in downtown Walla Walla.

Founder Jim McGuinn originally opened his business in San Diego before relocating to Walla Walla.

The shop looks a bit chaotic, with music displayed from top to bottom and in every corner.

The inventory includes old vinyl, new and used CDs, and DVDs.

Hot Poop even sells car and home audio equipment, TVs, and stereos at reasonable prices.

Chris Moran / Google After all, if you’re buying some new (to you) CDs and DVDs, you’ll need a way to enjoy them.

This quirky music shop is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
